Most managers dread giving negative feedback, and most employees hate hearing it.
Our brains tend to go on the defensive the instant anyone launches into corrective feedback.
But good managers still know they have to do it.
When employee feedback is done well, you end up with a better performing and even happier employee.

I love this, really helpful. Can you clarify the difference between corrective and performance feedback?
John Walston says
Corrective feedback looks backward, such as when you correcting a mistake or altering the direction someone may be heading in that is off base. Performance feedback addresses their performance, how they are doing, but heavily provides guidance for where they need to focus going forward.

Love the Infographic and appreciate the research that went into providing the statistics. What program did you use to create it?

Nice to see the stats! Is it possible to get this “article” without the graphics?
John Walston says
Renee, sorry, I don’t have it as a separate story.

John Walston says
Poorly done.
